Three public parks in Al Ain have reopened following major upgrades, offering residents improved recreational, sports and family friendly facilities as part of efforts to enhance quality of life across the city.
Al Ain City Municipality, under the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the reopening of Al Maqam Park, Al Muraijeb Park and Falaj Hazza Park to coincide with UAE Flag Day celebrations.
Al Maqam Park, the largest of the three at more than 71,000 square metres, features a skating track, padel court, multipurpose sports courts, children’s playgrounds and fitness areas. It also includes an 805-metre walking path and a large green space for community gatherings.
Falaj Hazza Park incorporates a pathway inspired by the traditional falaj irrigation system, reflecting Al Ain’s cultural heritage. Its facilities include children’s play areas, a water play zone, sports courts and a 675-metre walking track.
Meanwhile, Al Muraijeb Park combines heritage features, including historic forts, with modern recreational facilities such as swimming pools for adults and children, sandy play areas, sports courts and a walking path.
For Mouza Abdullah, a mother of three living in Al Ain, the reopening brings back fond memories of her childhood while creating new opportunities for families to spend time together.
“With the cooler weather approaching, it’s wonderful to have these parks where families can spend time outdoors, take walks and enjoy activities with their children. It gives parents and children a chance to step away from their daily routines and enjoy quality time together,” she said.
“Growing up in Al Ain, some of my fondest childhood memories were spending time in parks with my parents and siblings. It’s lovely to see these spaces being developed for a new generation of families.”
Al Ain resident Rashid Al Shamsi welcomed the improvements, particularly the incorporation of cultural and heritage elements into the parks designs.
“What I particularly appreciate is how the parks incorporate elements of Al Ain’s cultural heritage into their design. It’s important that as the city continues to develop, we preserve the traditions and identity that make it special, while introducing spaces that younger generations can enjoy,” he said.
“Al Ain continues to make great efforts to improve the quality of life for its residents, particularly families and children. These developments encourage people to spend more time outdoors, stay active and enjoy the facilities available within their communities.”
The municipality said the upgrades represent their efforts to develop public parks, encourage healthy and active lifestyles and provide accessible community spaces while preserving the city’s distinctive identity.
Together, the three parks cover more than 141,000 square metres, providing green spaces, walking paths, sports facilities and children’s play areas to cater to residents of different ages and interests.
