ASILA AL BADI (ABU DHABI)

Al Ain City Municipality is encouraging homeowners and building owners to maintain and properly display the UAE flag as part of a month-long awareness campaign aimed at strengthening national identity and preserving the city’s appearance.

‏Running from October 1 to 30, 2026, the initiative highlights the importance of keeping the national flag clean, undamaged, and displayed in a manner that reflects its significance as a symbol of unity and national pride.

‏Saeed Abdullah Al Jabri, Head of the Community Services Operations Support Section, explained that the campaign targets homeowners and building owners, encouraging them to maintain the flag’s cleanliness and condition and replace it when damaged or no longer suitable for display.

‏He said these practices contribute to preserving the city’s appearance while reflecting respect for national symbols.

‏Al Jabri added that the campaign includes field inspection and awareness visits, alongside educational messages shared through community communication channels to promote proper flag maintenance.

‏Representative offices affiliated with Al Ain City Municipality are also participating in the initiative to ensure awareness messages reach different areas of the city.

‏Speaking to Aletihad, homeowners in Al Ain shared how caring for the flag reflects national pride and helps instill values of belonging in younger generations.

‏Meera Al Shamsi, a homeowner, said the responsibility begins at home.

‏“I always make sure the UAE flag is clean, in good condition and displayed in a way that reflects its significance. I also teach my children the importance of respecting and preserving it,” she said.

‏“Love for our country is not expressed through words alone, but through our actions and the care we show for its symbols.”

‏Kholoud Al Shamsi, another homeowner, emphasised the flag’s role in strengthening national identity.

‏“The UAE flag is not simply a flag we raise. It is a symbol of our pride, unity and national identity, and the care we give it reflects our love and appreciation for our country,” she said.

‏“When we make sure the flag is properly displayed and maintained, we are not only expressing our sense of belonging but also instilling values of loyalty and pride in our children and future generations.”

‏She added that she regularly checks the flag’s condition and replaces it if damaged or faded.

‏Mohammed Ali, an Al Ain resident, said maintaining the flag sends a meaningful message to the community.

‏“Caring for the flag is not merely about appearances. It is a daily message to our children and neighbors that we take pride in our country, its leadership and our unity,” he said.

‏“Preserving the flag is a national duty, and the care we give it reflects our love for the UAE and pride in our identity.”
