A delegation from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) reviewed aircraft certification and airworthiness requirements with Joby and Archer for air taxi operations in the UAE during separate visits to the companies' facilities in California, US.

The GCAA delegation was led by Eng. Aqeel Al Zarooni, Assistant Director General for Aviation Safety Affairs, and included senior representatives from the Flight Operations and Airworthiness teams.

During the visits, the delegation held separate sessions with the Joby and Archer teams, along with technical workshops covering aircraft certification and airworthiness requirements, as well as operational matters related to their respective air taxi programmes.

The visits provided an opportunity for the GCAA to discuss these requirements directly with the companies and follow up on the latest developments and next steps related to air taxi operations in the UAE.

The visits form part of the GCAA’s ongoing cooperation with both companies and their continued work to complete the requirements for the safe and efficient operation of air taxis and support the integration of Advanced Air Mobility into the UAE aviation sector.
