Dr Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, said Etihad Rail is a national project that brings the UAE’s emirates together, shortens distances and embodies a nation moving confidently and ambitiously towards the future.
His remarks came on the occasion of the opening of Etihad Rail's Dubai Station, which marks the official launch of the UAE's national passenger rail network and the start of a new phase of expansion connecting more cities and regions across the country, ahead of the commencement of services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah on September 30.
In a post on X in Arabic, Dr Gargash said: "Major strategic projects are a key pillar of any ambitious development and economic vision and a valuable addition to it."
He continued: "His Highness the President, may God protect him, boarding Etihad Rail alongside His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed, who led this ambitious national project, reflects the importance of major infrastructure projects in strengthening human and economic connectivity across the UAE, consolidating the country's position as a leading logistics hub in the region, and expanding its strategic options."
Dr Gargash added: "Success is shaped by vision and determination. Etihad Rail is a national project that brings our emirates together, shortens distances and reflects one nation moving confidently and ambitiously towards the future."
