Faster than Smart Gates, and mobile too. Get immigration clearance anywhere at the Dubai Airport under a new service called Click & Travel. Passengers need not go looking for Smart Gates or immigration officers. The service comes to them.
It takes all of 12 minutes, says the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA Dubai), which officially launched the service on Monday.
The service had a soft launch in May and has processed around 31,373 transactions during the phase which concluded in August.
This is how the system works. Mobile gadgets with biometric verification connected to GDRFA Dubai’s database allows passengers to breeze through the process in just 12-15 seconds.
Click and Travel is currently available in both arrivals and departures sections and can be availed by both citizens and residents.
This mobile immigration system gives airport teams greater flexibility in managing passenger movement.
Officials said it can be deployed when passenger traffic is high for a smother and hassle-free immigration process.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, said Click & Travel’ is not just about improving procedures, it also enhances the passenger experience.
“With Click & Travel, instead of passengers having to look for the service, the service comes to them, enabling passport control officers to complete their procedures at their location quickly, securely and flexibly.”
