Space42 has launched the Future Spacers Programme to develop the country’s talent pipeline and prepare Emirati students for careers across the space and technology sectors.
The programme aims to strengthen the UAE’s knowledge economy, inspire future generations and develop participants’ professional skills through exposure to STEM, AI, data management and emerging technologies.
Emirati students interested in pursuing these fields can spend up to 16 weeks at Space42 facilities. The inaugural cohort includes students selected from Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Zayed University, as well as schools identified by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
The Future Spacers Programme began its inaugural 2026 season after a selection process that considered students’ enrolment in relevant STEM fields, a minimum GPA requirement and interviews.
Participants attend theoretical seminars examining the uses of space-based technology and the role AI can play in analysing large volumes of data. Guided by industry specialists, the practical component gives students experience working on business and industry challenges.
Alongside technical learning, students develop workplace skills including problem-solving, collaboration, communication and adaptability. The programme concludes with Space42 certification recognised by its partner entities.
Space42 plans to welcome new cohorts twice a year as it works with universities and schools to expand the national workforce and give more Emirati students early access to careers in space, AI and related technologies.
