ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Motorists who fail to stop when a school bus displays its “Stop” sign face a Dh1,000 fine and 10 black points, Abu Dhabi Police warned ahead of schools reopening on Monday.

Abu Dhabi Police urged motorists to come to a complete stop when the “Stop” arm of a school bus is extended and to maintain a distance of at least five metres from the bus.

“This will ensure that students can safely cross the road while boarding or alighting from buses,” Abu Dhabi Police said.

The authority stressed that student safety was a shared responsibility and urged motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant around schools and school buses.
