The Ministry of Interior has called on parents and guardians to rigorously supervise children's online activities to protect them from predators.

 

In a recent post, the authority said it had received reports of a child who had gone missing. Rescue efforts were successful in locating the child before any harm was done.

 

The authority warned that families are often unaware of children's virtual friends, who may prey on their innocence to extract sensitive, personal information.



"Family supervision and open communication are the first line of defence in protecting our children in the digital world," the Ministry said.

 

It also shared precautionary measures that families can adopt:

- Keep informed of children's online activities.
- Teach children not to share personal information.
- Get to know who your child is befriending virtually.
