ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
Abu Dhabi Police have urged the public to ensure the safe use of electric scooters, warning that misuse can lead to serious accidents and injuries.
The warning accompanied a video released by the Police that captures several instances of unsafe e-scooter use, including use in non-designated areas and failure to follow basic safety precautions.
The Police cautioned that failing to comply with safety measures - such as riding electric scooters on main roads, riding against the flow of traffic, or crossing the road without using a designated crossing - poses major risks to both rider and other road users.

The Police stressed that electric scooters should only be used on designated roads and lanes, away from other vehicles and traffic congestion. Riders must also wear appropriate protective gear, including reflective vests, helmets, and knee and elbow pads.
The authorities called on parents to supervise children using electric scooters, ensuring that they don protective gear and follow road rules.
In its statement, the Police also called on the public to raise awareness of the safe use of modern mobility devices, saying stronger road safety awareness supports Abu Dhabi's strategic goal of achieving "Smart Road Safety" and creating a safer road environment for all.
