SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)
The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) has launched a digital platform that connects laboratories across the emirate and strengthens the reliability of testing and inspection results.
Called Mawthooq, the platform provides an integrated digital system that automates a wide range of processes for council-delegated laboratories - from the submission and renewal of delegation applications and the tracking of accreditation data, to the management of audit processes and non-conformity cases, payment procedures, and related e-services.
Speaking to Aletihad on the sidelines of the launch, Eng Bader Khamis Al Shemaili, Executive Director of the Conformity and Standards Services Sector at the ADQCC, described Mawthooq as a solution to a critical gap in how technical data is documented and preserved.
Al Shemaili said the platform serves as a central hub in an environment where technical reports are routinely exchanged among multiple parties, creating what he called "a trusted and permanent digital record" of those documents.
"It is not only a documentation tool, but also an important step in strengthening transparency and quality oversight across Abu Dhabi," he said.
Built on cloud infrastructure, the platform ensures data remains accessible for years, allowing users to retrieve historical project information on demand. Al Shemaili noted that this long-term accumulation of data transforms it into something far more valuable than an archive.
"The value of documentation goes beyond record-keeping," Al Shemaili said.
"When data is accumulated over many years, it becomes a strategic asset."
In that capacity, the platform can help identify demand patterns, reveal gaps in testing capabilities, and flag unusual trends or emerging issues before they escalate. "Having a central data repository allows us to analyse trends across sectors and locations," Al Shemaili added.
Mawthooq also features a comprehensive service directory, interactive dashboards, and more than 10 specialised digital services to support laboratories in meeting the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Al Shemaili highlighted its particular relevance to construction and infrastructure, sectors where rigorous testing is fundamental to safety and regulatory compliance.
ADQCC sees Mawthooq evolving into a predictive platform, he said. Plans are on to integrate advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and future studies methodologies to generate deeper insights from its growing data repository.
Eng. Fahad Gharib Al-Shamsi, Acting Secretary-General of the ADQCC, said the platform would improve efficiency and streamline procedures across the laboratory sector, reinforcing confidence among investors and partners in the quality of work carried out within Abu Dhabi's building, construction, and services industries.
"This, in turn, reflects positively on sustainable economic growth," he said.
