Yousef Altheeb Alketbi, CEO of the National Rehabilitation Center (NRC), said that beyond being a social unit, the family plays a vital role in driving quality of life and sustainable development.

In a statement on the occasion of the International Day of Families, Alketbi said: “On the International Day of Families, observed annually on May 15, we celebrate the family as the primary source of the values and principles that shape individuals’ identities and guide their behaviour.”

He said that the UAE places great importance on supporting families and enhancing their wellbeing, “grounded in the firm belief that strong and cohesive families form the foundation of a thriving nation”.

Alketbi noted that the declaration of 2026 as the Year of the Family in the UAE reflects a forward-looking vision that highlights the importance of preserving family cohesion and renews the collective commitment to supporting families.

“At National Rehabilitation Center, we recognise the vital role families play in supporting recovery and wellbeing, and we are committed to providing a comprehensive therapeutic environment that strengthens family bonds and promotes healthy and sustainable relationships.

“A cohesive family is not merely a social unit, but a vital driver of quality of life and sustainable development.”
