Being in the UAE has been life-changing for many workers who have come from different parts of the world, carrying hopes of a better future for their families. Ahead of International Workers’ Day, they expressed their gratitude for the opportunities that brought them stability and peace of mind, knowing they and their loved ones are well cared for.

Pakistani handyman Alyas found it difficult to find stable work back home, so when an opportunity to work in the UAE came to him, he grabbed it without hesitation. “The UAE is a country of opportunity,” he told Aletihad.

“Now I can sustain my family and make a consistent income. Wages are paid on time and the system is well organised, which makes a big difference." Alyas added that with the safe environment that the country has built, he is able to hone his skills and do his work effectively.

Bangladeshi house painter Mohamad Asef agreed that in the UAE, there is always work, a steady source of income. "People are constructing, remodelling, and enhancing their houses. You can save money if you put in a lot of effort,” Asef told Aletihad. Beyond the reliable job, he said he values the opportunity to expand his horizons as he learns from people of diverse cultures.

Farm worker Ismael, also from Bangladesh, said life has become more secure ever since he moved to the UAE and found a job. "I send money to my family each month, and I have housing and food,” he said.

Indian electrician Yousef lauded how workers are treated and acknowledged in the UAE. "Skilled workers are respected by clients here. They will trust you and give you another call if you do your job well,” he said. For him, such feedback directly translates into a steady flow of jobs — and income. He added that with the UAE’s continuous development, workers like him are assured of stability.
