Abu Dhabi University's innovators are steering research toward tangible outcomes, developing real-world solutions powered by AI and advanced technologies.

Much of this work - spanning studies, conceptualisation, prototyping, rigorous evaluation, mentorship and pathways to market - is anchored at Abu Dhabi University Innovate (ADUi), the university's dynamic innovation hub.

"Innovation at ADU does not happen in isolation," said Prof Montasir Qasymeh, Associate Provost for Research, Innovation and Academic Development. "We align our research efforts with the UAE's long-term strategic goals, focusing on fields that will define the nation's future economy."

Among the key areas of focus are student-led projects reimagining education, from personalised learning tools to new approaches for engaging Arabic language instruction.

Alimny, an edtech platform founded by student Waseem Alzarieni, connects learners with verified tutors through an intelligent digital system. With ADUi's mentorship, market validation, and technical support, the team has turned the idea into a scalable solution supporting more inclusive and personalised education.

Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and the UAE's knowledge economy agenda, Alimny is preparing for wider rollout across the country, with plans to integrate AI-driven features and mobile tools to make personalised learning accessible at the click of a button.

Another ADUi-backed project, Tawasol, offers an interactive Arabic learning experience for non-Arabic speakers, combining structured instruction with cultural immersion.

"Our goal is to make Arabic learning engaging, practical and culturally relevant," said student founder and CEO of Tawasol, Dareen Ahmad Alherbawi.

With ADUi's guidance, the team refined its value proposition, validated market demand, and built a clear roadmap for growth.

The founding team also includes Heba Naba (CFO and Project Manager), Hanan Al-Sharafi (COO and Sales), Yomna Abdalla (Finance), Lynn Abbidi (Marketing and Product Development), and Aliya Haidar (Human Resources).

The startup is now preparing to launch its mobile application, integrate AI-powered learning tools, and expand across the UAE and the GCC, contributing to cultural sustainability and the broader knowledge economy.

By combining world-class education with impactful research and innovation, ADU empowers students and faculty to become leaders and entrepreneurs who shape industries and advance national development priorities.

"Our ultimate measure of success is seeing our work translate into meaningful societal impact, drive economic growth, and equip students and faculty to lead in emerging industries," said Prof Qasymeh.
