Abu Dhabi Police announced on Wednesday that it has detained 375 individuals of various nationalities on charges of filming sensitive sites, and for sharing misleading information on social media related to current events.

The individuals have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Abu Dhabi Police affirmed its commitment to enhancing security and safety in cooperation with relevant entities across the emirate, stressing that the individuals' actions constitute a clear violation of local laws and regulations, which are designed to protect society and safeguard its security and stability.

Despite repeated warnings and advisories, some individuals have continued to disregard instructions, Abu Dhabi Police said. Accordingly, competent authorities will pursue firm legal action against anyone proven to be involved in spreading fear or inciting public opinion, which is a punishable offence under the law.

The public is urged to verify the accuracy and credibility of information before sharing it, and to rely only on official and trusted sources for updates in order to avoid being misled by rumours or unverified news.

The police also highlighted the importance of community partnership in strengthening public security, noting that public awareness and adherence to the law play a vital role in protecting lives and property, and in fostering a safe and stable environment for all members of society.
