SARA AL ZAABI (ABU DHABI)

Bringing together the world's top experts, specialists, and decision-makers in autism care, Abu Dhabi takes a hands-on approach to building an inclusive system that truly supports individuals on the autism spectrum.

The fourth International Autism Conference, which will be held in the capital on April 25-28, goes beyond dialogue, said Kholoud Abdulrahim Al Ali Director of Care and Rehabilitation Centers Department at Zayed Authority for People of Determination.

It's a global platform where knowledge is exchanged and the latest scientific and high-tech solutions are showcased, ultimately contributing to enhancing the quality of life of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Al Ali told Aletihad.

At the event, visitors can expect to see and experience next-generation innovations that support autism care.

The adoption of smart applications and AI is one of the most important aspects of early diagnosis, said Dr Fatma Ridene, Medical Director at the Lotus Holistic Group and General Secretary of the conference.

"We have invited the only two globally approved platforms in early diagnosis, and they will be present through workshops and direct engagement with stakeholders," she added.

Families caring for a loved one with autism see the event as a source not only of knowledge but also of emotional support.

Mariam Qureshi, a mother of a child with autism, said, "We, as parents of children on the autism spectrum, benefit greatly from these conferences. They are open platforms with interactive workshops that help us empower ourselves first, and then support our children."

Russel Al Saadi, who has attended the conference for three years in a row, described it as "very beneficial"- from the workshops to the studies presented and the availability of doctors and researchers who can shed light on critical issues related to ASD.

"Families must attend every workshop that addresses real challenges children face," Al Saadi said, adding that it helps them better understand their children's progress and access the right support.

For Ghareeba Al Hababi, the event is more like a community "that understands you and your children."

Such support gives parents the strength to continue their journey with confidence, she said. "Feeling supported and understood gives you the power to go back home and care for your children with love, warmth, and confidence."
