DUBAI (ALETIHAD)
Dubai Police have successfully returned 171,490 lost items to their rightful owners in 2025, reaffirming their commitment to proactive policing services that enhance security and quality of life across the emirate.
The General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Lost and Found department, handled a total of 868,110 found items over the past year.
Meanwhile, 159,962 reports of lost belongings were received through police stations across Dubai, as well as approved drop-off points including shopping centres and Smart Police Stations (SPS), alongside other modern channels that make it easier for the public to report and hand in lost property.
Dubai Police emphasised that these results reflect strong collaboration between law enforcement and the community. Members of the public play a vital role by handing in items that they find, which helps speed up their return and highlights values of responsibility, honesty, and positive cooperation.
The Lost and Found department operates through an advanced smart system that links reports of lost items with recovered belongings. This system is supported by specialised teams working around the clock to ensure accuracy and swift communication with owners, enabling efficient and flexible return processes.
In addition to receiving reports, the department provides a range of services, including direct communication with owners and multiple collection options. These efforts contribute to high customer satisfaction, and strengthen public trust in police services.
Dubai Police urged the public to hand over items through official channels, particularly police stations, stressing that community cooperation is essential to protecting property and ensuring prompt return to rightful owners.
Vehicle Number Plates
In light of recent weather conditions and rainfall, Dubai Police also highlighted the importance of immediately reporting lost vehicle number plates by calling 901 or visiting the nearest police station. Specialised teams handle such reports efficiently, and contact vehicle owners as soon as the plates are recovered.
If the owner is unable to collect the plate in person, it can be delivered through Emirates Post services, reflecting Dubai Police’s commitment to providing flexible, integrated services that save time and effort while supporting the government’s vision of enhancing quality of life and simplifying procedures.
