MoCCAE: Guidelines for farmers and livestock owners to protect people and property during unstable weather

ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has issued the following guidelines for farmers and livestock owners, as part of proactive measures to protect both people and property during the unstable weather conditions forecast for this week:
Keep away from electrical equipment, wires and submersible pumps;
Relocate electrical equipment and disconnect power from anything at risk of flooding;
Move livestock and poultry to higher, drier and covered areas;
Inspect feed and discard any that is wet to prevent disease;
Avoid stagnant water which may be polluted or hiding electrical hazards;
Do not operate irrigation systems or submerged equipment until a technical inspection is completed;
Secure plastic and glass greenhouses against strong winds;
Clear drainage channels to prevent water build-up.
