AMEINAH ALZEYOUDI (ABU DHABI)

As the UAE marks Emirati Children’s Day, parents across the country are pointing to the safety, education and support their children receive as some of the clearest signs of the nation’s care for younger generations.

For many families, raising children in the UAE means watching them grow up in an environment that combines strong community values with access to modern education, activities and services. Parents say that balance gives children room to build confidence, pursue their interests and stay connected to their identity.

Ahood Ahmed, a mother of two, said the UAE gives children a strong sense of security and belonging.

The sense of security that permeates our everyday existence is one of the things I cherish the most. My kids can participate in activities, go to school, and play in parks without worrying about anything all the time," she told Aletihad.

The nation makes major investments in family-friendly and child-friendly spaces. Parents can truly rest easy knowing that.”

Abdullah Albraiki, a father of three, said that the range of opportunities available to children helps them build confidence from an early age.

"From an early age, children are encouraged to pursue their hobbies. There are programmes that support their skills in the arts, sciences, and sports. I've witnessed how these chances boost their self-esteem. It gives kids hope that they can accomplish great things," he told Aletihad.

For Khayal Alhumairi, a mother of four, the UAE’s appeal also lies in the way it exposes children to different cultures while keeping them connected to their Emirati identity.

"My kids get to know neighbors and classmates from all over the world as they grow up. They gain empathy and respect for other cultures as a result," she said in a statement to Aletihad.

They are also taught to take pride in their Emirati language and customs. It produces a highly well-rounded upbringing."

Clouded Eisa Mohammad, a father of two, added that the country’s long-term investment in education, healthcare and community services gives parents added reassurance.

"It is evident that the leadership is constantly considering the next generation. Education, healthcare, and community services are all constantly improving. They seem to be growing up in an environment that genuinely believes in their potential," he told Aletihad.

That gives me hope for my kids’ futures as a parent."
