As Kuwait celebrates its 65th National Day today, following a landmark year of development, the UAE stands as a longstanding partner, an ally, a brother in every sense. The ties between the two nations have grown steadily over decades, nurtured by a shared history and a common vision for progress and prosperity.
This partnership took centre stage during the recent UAE–Kuwait Week, held from January 29 to February 4. Organised under the slogan “UAE and Kuwait: Brothers Forever”, the week-long celebration offered a platform to showcase defining milestones in bilateral relations, and demonstrate how the two countries continue to work together across multiple sectors.
The programme featured a wide array of events highlighting collaboration in areas such as economic growth, educational exchange, cultural initiatives, media cooperation, sports, and women empowerment. From strategic dialogues to cultural performances and community events, the week mirrored how far UAE–Kuwait relations have come, and how the partnership is shaping shared opportunities for the
future.
High-Profile Events
One of the week’s key events was the UAE–Kuwait Economic Forum, where His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with Kuwaiti business leaders who have been active partners in the nation’s economic landscape.
The forum served as a platform to explore new investment opportunities, exchange insights on regional and global markets, and spotlight entrepreneurial success stories from both countries.
In another major highlight, the UAE–Kuwait Media Forum focused on collaborations in media, education, culture, and sports, and honoured pioneers who helped establish these longstanding connections. Dialogues with leading diplomatic, cultural, and media figures explored the future of Gulf cooperation, historical milestones, and shared cultural and humanitarian achievements.
Sessions addressed a wide range of topics, including political and diplomatic relations, UAE–Kuwait solidarity, the achievements of Emirati students in Kuwait, shared cultural and musical heritage, sporting partnerships, and the role of youth and digital media in strengthening bilateral ties.
For the first time, the UAE–Kuwait Women’s Forum was also held, highlighting the contributions of Emirati and Kuwaiti women in nurturing historic ties, and encouraging dialogue on key challenges and opportunities. Sessions covered various aspects, from women’s roles in technology, media, tourism, logistics, renewable energy, and climate action, to peace, security, and sports. Discussions demonstrated the many ways in which women contribute to the development and the future of both nations.
Community Celebrations
Across the UAE, the celebration extended into public spaces, with iconic landmarks illuminated in the colours of the Kuwaiti flag, fireworks and drone displays lighting up the skies, and a parade at sea symbolising unity and brotherhood.
Concerts and art performances honoured the shared cultural heritage, while visiting Kuwaiti citizens received a special welcome along with special souvenirs.
Tributes came from all corners. People of determination presented an artistic piece titled “A Message of Love”, celebrating Kuwait and expressing pride in its people. The song highlighted themes of fraternity, unity, and shared destiny, inspired by the historic bonds between the two nations.
In yet another gesture of friendship, the UAE Government announced plans to present a memorial monument to the Kuwaiti people, to be installed at Al Shaheed Park in Kuwait City. Designed as a lasting symbol of shared history and mutual destiny, the monument aims to strengthen institutional and social integration between the two countries for generations to come.
