ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President, Dr Anwar Gargash, has warned of a resurgence of the Muslim Brotherhood in some countries. He said the group is seeking new allies while sowing discord in communities.

In a post on X, he said: “In the near and far corners of our Arab and Islamic world, the Muslim Brotherhood and its companions are re-emerging, seeking to re-align;  exploiting contradictions and disputes, and attempting to re-package prescriptions of extremism, strife, and violence.”

He said the group targets tolerant societies that are open and diverse.

“Tolerant and open societies have come under attack, while voices from the past strive to revive a discourse that has been discredited,” he said in the post in Arabic.

Dr Gargash called on countries to be vigilant and moderate to fend off the extremist ideology espoused by the Muslim Brotherhood.
