ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the General Women's Union, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the brotherly state of Kuwait, is organising the First Emirati-Kuwaiti Women's Forum until February 3, 2026.

The event will be held under the theme: ‘Together We Are... Together We Become... Together We Create Tomorrow.’

The forum stems from the deep-rooted, historical fraternal ties that bind the UAE and the brotherly state of Kuwait.

It comes in response to the call of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to celebrate the enduring brotherly relations between the two nations and their peoples, and to enhance joint cooperation across various sectors, particularly in the empowerment of women and the advancement of their developmental roles.

Integrating physical attendance with virtual participation, the forum offers a shared space for constructive dialogue, supports the exchange of expertise, and contributes to building a collective future grounded in the confidence of partners and a unified path.

The forum bridges the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision, which, from its inception, has affirmed the role of women as the foundation of the family, the heart of society, and a driver of development, with the New Kuwait Vision 2035, which places people and the empowerment of national capacities at the centre of national development.

This reflects a unity of direction and the integration of visions between the two brotherly  nations in investing in people and building stable and prosperous societies.

Aiming to highlight the role of Emirati and Kuwaiti women in consolidating historical brotherhood and strengthening the partnership between the two countries in fields concerning women, the forum provides a platform for dialogue that brings together women leaders to discuss priority issues, exchange perspectives, and shape a future led by women through joint initiatives and practical recommendations that contribute to improving the quality of life.

The forum includes an exhibition sponsored by the Department of Economic Development, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development.

The exhibition creates an interactive physical space at the headquarters of the General Women's Union, showcasing practical models of economic and social empowerment for women through the participation of supporting entities, productive families, and small and startup companies.

Furthermore, the exhibition highlights the cultural and social dimensions of empowerment by showcasing handicrafts, traditional cuisine, and Emirati and Kuwaiti traditional fashion.

This embodies the pivotal role of women in preserving heritage and transforming it into sustainable economic and social value, while enhancing cultural ties between the two brotherly nations.

The forum will serve as a qualitative milestone in enhancing institutional coordination between the relevant authorities in both countries while launching joint workstreams and practical initiatives that support the development of women's empowerment programmes and expand cooperation in priority areas, which will positively impact family and society in the UAE and the brotherly state of Kuwait.
