At a time when content creators are looking for new ways to deepen audience engagement, UAE-based platform VUZ is exploring how immersive technology can change the way people experience live events.

VUZ is an innovative live-streaming app that removes physical barriers and allows users to immerse themselves in the three-dimensional world of live streaming.

Ghassan Hasan, Operations Manager at VUZ, said the platform focuses on producing 360-degree content directly on the app itself.

"VUZ was built to capture concerts, sports matches, and major events in full 360 degrees, allowing viewers using VR headsets to experience events as if they were physically present," Hasan told Aletihad during an interview at the 1 Billion Followers Summit.

Hasan noted that the platform is now introducing a live-streaming feature, enabling content creators to broadcast in 360 degrees while interacting with their audiences in real time.

He said this has transformed audience behaviour, with viewers spending longer periods engaged during live sessions.

Operating from the UAE has been a key advantage, Hasan added, pointing to the country's role as a growing hub for content creators.

"The UAE provides a great environment where creators can easily produce content and experiment with new formats," he said.

Hasan said the platform's figures show that about 300,000 to 400,000 users download and use the app each month, with more than one million current active users.

"The platform's current focus remains on immersive experiences that strengthen the connection between creators and their audiences, reflecting broader shifts in how content is produced and consumed in the UAE's evolving digital media landscape," he added.

For Hasan, the 1 Billion Followers Summit serves as a major hub linking entrepreneurs and content creators. "It is a great opportunity to connect and come up with ideas and get inspired," he said.
