ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Monitoring and Control Centre, shared a video clip on Wednesday showing accidents caused by driver inattention.

The clip features two separate incidents in which vehicles are unable to come to a safe stop when the automobile in front slows down, resulting in collisions. Abu Dhabi Police released the video on its social media platforms as part of its 'Your Comment' awareness initiative.

The authority urged motorists to avoid any form of distraction while driving, and to remain fully focused on the road to avoid collisions and incidents. Abu Dhabi Police emphasised that failing to be attentive while driving can result in traffic accidents that often lead to fatalities and severe injuries.

It also warned drivers about the dangers of using mobile phones - for activities like browsing the Web, checking social media, making calls, and taking photos - which can cause serious traffic accidents.

The authority noted that the fine for being distracted from the road while driving — in any form — is Dh800 and four traffic points.
