Abu Dhabi Mobility (Integrated Transport Centre) on Sunday issued a reminder regarding the upcoming ban on truck movement on key roads in the emirate.

The permanent ban on truck movement on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Road (E11) and Al Raha Beach Road (E10) will come into effect on December 1.

Traffic will be diverted to the Fayha - Seih Shaib and Al-Haffar (Al-Adlah) roads, which have been designated for heavy vehicles to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.

AD Mobility first announced the decision in November, adding that a ban on truck movement will also apply during peak hours along Al Rawdah Road in the Musaffah area - from the Bridges Complex to the Truck Bridge in both directions on the E30.

An alternate route has instead been mapped out through the ICAD Bridge, which will help limit interaction between heavy and light vehicles.

The changed routes are part of a comprehensive plan to regulate traffic in the capital by ensuring smoother flow on roads that see heavy vehicle volumes.

"It helps improve road safety, reduce congestion and accidents, and increase the efficiency of the strategic road network that serves key areas and destinations across the emirate," AD Mobility said in a previous statement.

In preparation, the authority has ensured that the roads designated roads for trucks - Seih Shuaib Road (E75) and Al Haffar Road - have been equipped to accommodate heavy vehicles.

These routes will help facilitate commercial activity and goods movement without disrupting traffic flow within the city.

The authority has urged all heavy vehicle drivers and transport companies to fully comply with the traffic regulations and signage posted on the roads, and stressed the importance of cooperation to ensure the smooth and safe implementation of the decision.
