ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality (ADM) urged all workers at construction sites to ensure the importance and obligation of providing all safety and security requirements for temporary fences to protect workers and residents alike.
This came during the inspection campaign carried out by the Municipality Services Sector, represented by the Environment, Health and Safety Department, as part of its systematic plan aimed at establishing the best safety standards in all construction and building sites, stressing the need to take into account the general appearance as well when installing temporary fences for projects.
The five-day campaign paid great attention to the awareness aspect and aimed to raise the level of awareness of workers in the construction sector in Abu Dhabi regarding the safety requirements for temporary fences and to ensure that all construction sites adhere to safety requirements to preserve the safety of community members and neighbouring buildings, and to reduce the incidence of temporary fence collapses during periods of weather fluctuations in particular.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality noted that the safety requirements for temporary fences include many points and axes, including:
• Ensuring that there is a license to install a temporary fence issued by Abu Dhabi City Municipality.
• The necessity of conducting periodic maintenance of temporary fences.
• Ensure that there is no deformation on the fence or external areas without a permit.
• Ensure the safety of neighbouring buildings and passersby and that the temporary fence is not worn out.
• Ensure that an emergency plan is in place and activated in the event that temporary fences need to be modified.
• Ensure that temporary fences are valid.
