Serbia is looking to harness the UAE’s leadership in AI to drive technological advancements that will improve the quality of life for citizens in both nations, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić said.
With the UAE’s world-class infrastructure for AI and tech, alongside Serbia’s growing talent pool, the two countries see great potential in collaborating to integrate AI across key sectors such as healthcare, biotech and energy, Brnabić said in an exclusive interview with Aletihad at the assembly’s headquarters.
“The UAE has some of the best infrastructure for AI and tech in the world, and together with great talent in the UAE and Serbia we can work on developing research and applications of tech solutions that will enable better quality of life for our citizens,” she said.

Brnabić added that the recently signed MoU on AI has enabled more connections between researchers in the UAE and Serbia.
This is especially important in developing Large Language Models that are crucial for the implementation of AI in both countries, she said, stressing that the UAE has played a significant role in supporting Serbia’s efforts to adopt advanced technologies and innovative solutions, particularly in areas like e-governance and Smart Police Stations.
“Through knowledge exchange, strategic partnerships, and investment in key sectors, the UAE has demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the relationship between our two nations,” Brnabić added.
The collaboration between Serbia and the UAE is built on mutual trust and shared goals, enabling Serbia to benefit from the UAE’s expertise in digital transformation, smart infrastructure, and sustainable development.
“These initiatives not only improve efficiency but also enhance public services and quality of life for citizens,” she added.
Looking ahead, this partnership has the potential to expand into new areas such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and advanced urban planning.
"By leveraging the UAE’s proven track record of innovation and Serbia’s growing technological capabilities, we can work together to introduce even more groundbreaking solutions that will drive progress and foster long-term economic growth," she said.
Strengthened Cooperation
The current relations between Serbia and the UAE, as one of the world’s most important superpowers, are at a historic high and are constantly growing, Brnabić said.
They are based on strong political dialogue, strategic partnership and intensive economic cooperation, the Speaker of the National Assembly said, adding that the two countries will witness further strengthened cooperation in the fields of digital economy, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, sustainable development and education.
“Serbia has recently witnessed the signing of a free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates, it is a great success, and it is of great importance for all our businessmen and Serbian agriculture in the years to come,” Brnabić added.
She stressed that parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and the UAE is of great importance for the further strengthening of mutual understanding and political dialogue.
“Activities such as the exchange of expertise and participation in joint projects allow parliamentarians of both legislative institutions of our countries to contribute to the development of relations in key areas of politics and economy,” she said.
“I want to show how two countries that are quite different in size and with numerous cultural differences can be like-minded in terms of development, seeing opportunities for success and building solid bridges of cooperation, with mutual respect. Long live the friendship between Serbia and the United Arab Emirates,” she added.
