His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, visited Liwa International Festival 2025 (LIWA 2025), held under his patronage and running until 4 January 2025, in the Al Dhafra Region.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by Sheikh Yas bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan; Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi; Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary of the Ruler’s Representative Court in Al Dhafra Region; Saood Abdulaziz Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi; Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi; and Nouf Mohamed Al-Bushlaibi, Executive Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications Sector of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, along with several other officials.

During the visit, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan toured the events and sports venues, along with the key cultural and entertainment activities across the festival.

His Highness started his visit to LIWA 2025 with a tour of the camping & RV grounds, which features local and global exhibitors. He visited Liwa Village, where a variety of artistic, cultural, and family entertainment programmes are held, offering visitors unique experiences, as well as a main stage for concerts and celebrations. He was given a guided preview of some of the festival’s most anticipated highlights, including the Monster Jam truck show, Hollywood Circus, and Classic Cars exhibition.

His Highness then attended the festival’s opening ceremony, featuring the premiere of a film honouring Liwa International Festival 2025 throughout the years, before officially inaugurating the event. The launch featured a spectacular fireworks display and thrilling performances on the sand dunes. The festival will continue for 23 days and is organised by DCT Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Liwa Sports Club, Al Dhafra Municipality, Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Media Network, and Miral.

The festival has established itself as a premier winter destination, attracting a wide audience that includes camping enthusiasts, adventurers, fans of traditional sports, motor racing, and automotive challenges. Participants include top motorsports professionals and racing drivers from around the world.

Visitors can also enjoy a diverse lineup of entertainment, including fireworks, live musical performances, and desert activities, all set against the stunning natural beauty of Liwa and the surrounding Al Dhafra region. They can choose from a variety of hospitality and accommodation options, ranging from luxurious units to desert lodgings, as well as tents adorned with traditional Sadu fabric and safari-style tents.

The Liwa International Festival 2025 shines a spotlight on the unique tourism offerings of the Al Dhafra region as a vibrant destination, inviting one and all to create beautiful memories with family and friends while enjoying their passions for adventure, sports, culture, arts, and music.
