DUBAI (Aletihad)

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a leading global electric power research and development organisation.

The agreement fosters strong collaboration in training and the implementation of the latest applications in renewable energy, grid modernisation, energy storage solutions, and more.

EPRI will provide training programmes and courses for DEWA’s employees in different fields. These include smart grids, energy efficiency, distribution asset management, cyber security, energy-sector sustainability, data analytics, renewable systems and photovoltaic integration.

The training programmes aim to enhance the major role they play in anticipating and shaping a sustainable future.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said, “We support the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and the green economy, and to enhance its position as a global hub and a knowledge-based economy. DEWA’s employees are the backbone of all our international achievements and success.

We collaborate with the most prominent local and international research and innovation centres to provide programmes on career and self-development. This helps them turn challenges into opportunities, keep pace with the rapid changes and continue the excellence and leadership journey. This also improves their productivity in all development sectors."

“It supports our role in achieving the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and our vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation committed to achieving net zero by 2050. This also strengthens DEWA’s position as one of the best utilities worldwide in all fields. We spare no efforts to invest in our calibres, and support them to keep the gains and achieve more accomplishments. We provide a positive work environment that motivates innovation and development, while focusing on attracting and empowering Emirati competencies and talents. We provide them with key skills to lead the future and assume a leadership role in climate action and accelerating the energy transition and digital transformation,” Al Tayer added.

Arshad Mansoor, President and CEO of EPRI, said, “The clean energy transition will only be successful if all of us collectively work together to tackle today’s challenges and tomorrow’s opportunities. Leveraging EPRI’s global expertise in technology transfer, integration of new and emerging low-carbon technologies, and grid modernisation, we look forward to working with DEWA, driving innovation for a reliable, affordable, and equitable clean energy transformation.”
