A session titled "Game-Changing Media: The Rise of Sportainment in the Middle East and Beyond" at the Global Media Congress in Abu Dhabi explored the rapid evolution of global sports media.

Discussions focused on digital platforms, broadcasting innovations, and the region's investments in sports infrastructure. Panellists discussed the impact of global partnerships, local sports networks, and strategies for attracting younger audiences.

It also highlighted the economic and cultural influence of sports media in the UAE and across the globe, as well as ways to balance commercial interests with local cultural values and the need for regional collaboration to maintain momentum.

Sports journalist Lotfi Al-Zoubi highlighted how Gulf nations, particularly the UAE, have captured global attention through visionary leadership, investments in state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, and hosting premier international events.

He noted that investments in infrastructure and partnerships with global sports stars have elevated the region's leagues to rival major international competitions.

Al-Zoubi addressed the broader impact of sports on the economy, tourism, society and politics, with government support fostering youth talent and shielding them from social risks.
