TRENDS Research and Advisory hosted His Excellency Anders H. Gulbrandsen, Minister-Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway to the UAE, at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi for a discussion session on scientific research and its role.
The session focused on the pivotal role of research institutions and think tanks in analysing contemporary global and regional developments and forecasting the future of international issues and crises.
During the session, His Excellency Gulbrandsen shared valuable insights into current global challenges and emphasised the importance of strengthening international cooperation to address them.
He was briefed on the nature of TRENDS’ work and its external offices, gaining an understanding of the Center’s fundamental role in promoting scientific research partnerships and building knowledge bridges between cultures and peoples.
His Excellency Gulbrandsen described the session as an opportunity to learn about the research and studies conducted by TRENDS, which significantly contribute to a better understanding of contemporary global challenges. He stressed the importance of cooperation between research institutions worldwide and expressed his aspiration to strengthen relations between Norway and the UAE in this field while building research partnerships with Norwegian research centers.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, welcomed the Norwegian diplomat at the beginning of the session. He remarked that the visit reflects a shared interest in scientific research and its role in international relations, as well as in providing evidence-based foresight on global events.
Dr. Al-Ali provided a brief overview of TRENDS, its external offices, and its global vision regarding the role of think tanks and scientific research. He emphasised that TRENDS believes dialogue and cooperation between experts and researchers from diverse countries contribute to building a better future for all.
Dr. Al-Ali also expressed his aspiration to enhance TRENDS' partnerships with Norwegian research centers in the near future.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali presented His Excellency Anders H. Gulbrandsen with the TRENDS Research Medal, in recognition of his efforts in supporting science and knowledge.
