Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC) and Chairman of the 18th regular meeting of leaders of GCC Shura, Representatives, National, and Ummah Councils, emphasised that with the will of its wise leaders, and the determination and ambitions of its people, the GCC countries will continue to be a gateway to global peace and a pillar of international stability and harmony.

Ghobash made this statement in his opening speech at the meeting hosted by FNC today in Abu Dhabi.

In attendance were Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Bahrain's Speaker of the Council of Representatives; Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council; Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of Qatar's Shura Council, and Khalid bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of Omani Shura Council.

Also present were Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament; Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, GCC Secretary General Jasem, and a number of FNC members.

Ghobash conveyed the greetings and well-wishes of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the success of the meeting, reaffirming the UAE's stance calling for an immediate and permanent cessation of the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

He emphasised the UAE's commitment to delivering urgent aid to the people there and providing political and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in their just cause of establishing an independent state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He also reiterated the UAE's position advocating for an immediate ceasefire in Lebanon, the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and support for Lebanon’s people and government to secure Lebanon’s stability, security, and sovereignty.

Ghobash highlighted that this meeting reflects the strong ties and shared destiny uniting the GCC states, both in leadership and among people.
