His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has attended the Our Ambition: Elevating UAE Talent for Global Competitiveness session, on the sidelines of the UAE Government 2024 Annual Meetings in Abu Dhabi, an event attended by more than 500 UAE leaders and officials from federal and local organisations and entities.

The session, presented by His Excellency Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council, highlighted several key topics, with a particular focus on the UAE and the leadership’s ongoing efforts to support the competitiveness of national talent, reviewing a range of innovative initiatives and strategic plans, aimed at empowering and developing Emirati professionals, equipping them to excel in both local and international labour markets.

The session also highlighted the UAE's efforts in launching national training programmes aimed at advancing the skills of Emirati professionals to align with the requirements of the evolving labour market, underscoring the focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through empowering Emirati entrepreneurs to succeed.

Additionally, the session discussed the importance of strengthening public-private partnerships to create sustainable career opportunities for Emirati talent, as well as the role of further developing a knowledge-based economy, enhancing the capabilities of national talent and raising their competitiveness globally.

During the session, His Excellency Ghannam Al Mazrouei discussed the significant impact of the Nafis programme, launched to boost the presence of Emirati talent in the private sector, highlighting that since its inception in September 2021, the programme has created thousands of job opportunities for Emirati youth, reaffirming the commitment of the UAE’s leadership to empower young Emiratis through integrating them into competitive roles that equip them with essential skills and knowledge to support their professional growth and ambitions across various sectors.

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised the importance of expanding the scope of national programmes and initiatives that enable Emirati talent to compete in both local and global labour markets, aligning with the UAE's ambitious vision and leadership directives to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and further develop a knowledge-based economy, empowering national talent to play a key role in advancing sustainable development across vital sectors in the UAE.

His Highness commended the accomplishments of the Nafis programme in significantly increasing the employment of national talent in the private sector, reaching record levels, reaffirming the importance of building on these positive outcomes to achieve even greater progress in raising Emiratisation rates across all sectors in the future.
