ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport has announced its readiness to accommodate the transport needs of visitors to the Sheikh Zayed Festival, taking place in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, from November 1, 2024 to February 15, 2025.

The annual event combines entertainment, culture and heritage, celebrating the authentic Emirati values and traditions established by the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in a family-friendly atmosphere filled with joy and enriching cultural experiences.

Free bus service

This year, Abu Dhabi Mobility will operate nine buses to provide free transport for festival visitors from multiple locations in the city of Abu Dhabi to the event site in Al Wathba via service no: 408.

The schedule includes up to 48 round trips on weekdays and 54 trips on weekends and public holidays, with a frequency of every 20 minutes.

Service routes will begin at the Abu Dhabi main bus station, and proceed through Rabdan Mall (previously Bain Al Jesrain Cooperative Society Supermarket) on Al Ittihad Street and the area opposite Baniyas Court, before finally reaching the festival venue.

Outbound trips from Sunday to Thursday will run from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with return trips operating from 4:30 pm until 12:00 midnight at a frequency of every 20 minutes.

On Fridays, Saturdays, and public holidays, transport services will extend until 11:00 pm for outbound trips and until 1:10 am for return trips, at a frequency of every 20 minutes, to meet increased demand during peak times of the festival.

Taxis

To ensure a smooth and comfortable journey for visitors, there will be a designated area for passenger pick-up and drop-off, ensuring a sufficient number of taxis available in coordination with transport officials.

Visitors will also be able to book taxis by calling 600535353, via the Abu Dhabi Taxi app, or through other electronic payment options for added ease.

Road Service Patrol units will be deployed to manage traffic around the event site and to provide support to road users in case of vehicle breakdowns (such as fuel delivery, tyre changes and battery charging).

Additionally, vehicle towing services will be available to safely remove broken-down vehicles from the road to the nearest secure location, ensuring the safety of all road users.

On-site inspectors

Abu Dhabi Mobility will further support festival attendees with an on-site team of inspectors available to offer assistance.

Contact centre staff will be available to provide bus timing information, resolve customer complaints or manage lost-and-found queries, and coordinate effectively with operational teams to effectively meet visitor requirements.
