The United Arab Emirates, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), is participating in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN2024), taking place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 21-25, 2024.

The event serves as a premier platform for international air transport negotiations, bringing together aviation regulators, industry leaders, and stakeholders from around the world to discuss and strengthen global aviation partnerships.

As one of the leading nations in the aviation sector, the UAE’s participation in ICAN2024 reaffirms its commitment to fostering a robust and sustainable air transport ecosystem. The UAE delegation is led by His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, with the participation of representatives from UAE local entities and national carriers.

The UAE delegation will engage in bilateral meetings with representatives from 20 countries. These meetings aim to strengthen international cooperation, discuss air transport agreements, and enhance air connectivity.

“Our participation in ICAN2024 underscores the UAE's dedication to fostering strong international aviation relations and enhancing the bilateral air transport agreements we have established with 189 countries,” said H.E. Saif Al Suwaidi. “We look forward to productive discussions and building on our strong partnerships with ICAO member states.”

The ICAN event provides a unique platform for aviation authorities and industry stakeholders to negotiate bilateral agreements and collaborate on initiatives that promote a safer, more sustainable, and efficient aviation sector. The UAE is committed to playing a pivotal role in these efforts and contributing to the future of global aviation.
