The Liwa Date Festival and Auction achieved sales exceeding Dh2 million during its third edition, which took place from October 11-20 in the Zayed City, Al Dhafra region, attracting more than 71,000 visitors.

The festival welcomed 132 tonnes of premium Emirati dates from over 30 varieties. The date auction during the festival recorded total sales of Dh2,067,150, with the quantity of dates sold reaching 45,000 kilograms.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the festival welcomed the Republic of Iraq as the guest of honour for this edition, with the aim of strengthening ties, exchanging agricultural expertise, and enhancing relations between the two countries in vital sectors.

With a purse of prizes wort Dh2.7 million, the date auction received 24,000 kilograms from 207 competitors.

Celebrating the 2024 date harvesting season, the festival featured 20 competitions with a total of 167 prizes, including nine date competitions, two cooking contests, five honey competitions, and two each for photography and painting.
