At a dialogue session held on the occasion of his visit to the head office of TRENDS Research and Advisory in Abu Dhabi and attended by TRENDS researchers and experts, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Head of the National Media Office, emphasised the importance of the partnership between media and scientific research in addressing contemporary challenges and enhancing the UAE’s regional and global standing. 

At the outset of the session, which was attended by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al-Kaabi, Director General of the National Media Office and Acting Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory, along with several officials from both sides, TRENDS researchers made a brief presentation on the Centre’s work and research, training and advisory programmes, as well as its utilisation of artificial intelligence in its research work. 

His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed praised TRENDS’ efforts, highlighting the innovative plans and projects presented by the Centre, driven by the ideas and visions of a distinguished group of Emirati talents. He expressed his pride in the outstanding efforts made by TRENDS in understanding the present and contributing to shaping the future.

His Excellency emphasised that TRENDS serves as a hub for innovative ideas and a support for ambitious and serious scientific research, offering insights based on careful monitoring and objective analyses of various issues across local, regional and global sectors. He noted that the Centre clearly reflects the continuous support provided by the wise leadership for scientific research and its growing role in supporting comprehensive development.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Al Hamed also commended the Centre’s expansion in opening a series of new offices in major cities worldwide, affirming that this growth underscores the Centre’s commitment to building knowledge-based societies and fostering dialogue with major research and academic institutions globally.

He emphasised TRENDS’ role as a model think tank that contributes to both current and future development plans, affirming that the Centre is increasingly recognised as a trusted destination for thought and knowledge.

He also mentioned that during his discussions with Dr. Mohammed Al-Ali, they explored avenues of cooperation between the two entities, aiming to enhance their mutual goals in support of scientific research and media development. He added, “At the National Media Office, we are keen to strengthen this integration by supporting research initiatives that contribute to the advancement of the media sector”.

Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS, welcomed His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla Al Hamed and emphasised the importance of the visit in fostering cooperation between the Office and the Centre. He also praised His Excellency’s support for TRENDS and its team, stating that such recognition serves as motivation for further achievements and is a source of pride and honour.

The dialogue session also discussed the significance of integrating media with scientific research, the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing this integration, and achieving a qualitative shift in both fields. It also explored ways and prospects for cooperation between the National Media Office and TRENDS in media and scientific research.

At the conclusion of the session, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed was awarded the TRENDS Research Medal in recognition of his efforts to support research and knowledge work, as well as his contribution to and support of TRENDS’ knowledge disseminating initiatives.

It is worth mentioning that the TRENDS Research Medal was introduced during the Centre’s bronze jubilee celebrations. It is awarded to figures that make significant contributions to the development of scientific research and are committed to fostering cooperation with TRENDS in promoting the culture of scientific research across various fields.
