SARA ALZAABI (DUBAI)
The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH) has officially launched Sahatna, an integrated mobile app designed to empower residents in managing their health and that of their families.
Unveiled at GITEX Global 2024, the world's largest technology show in Dubai, Sahatna serves as a comprehensive platform offering a range of health and wellness services, including appointment booking, teleconsultations, and access to health records and genomic reports.
By enhancing the patient healthcare experience for both residents and visitors, this application aims to drive behaviour change across the emirate, fostering improved long-term health outcomes and paving the way for a healthier future for all.
‘Our Health’
Sahatna, meaning "our health" in Arabic, signifies a major advancement in the DoH's effort to create a patient-centric healthcare system in Abu Dhabi.
Key features of the app include a comprehensive appointment scheduling system for easy access to the emirate’s healthcare services, allowing users to connect with care providers in person or via video consultations.
Users can manage their medical records through the Malaffi healtg portal and track their family's health.
Also, participants in the Emirati Genome Program (EGP) can access personalised genomic reports, empowering them to make informed health decisions.
Furthermore, the app features an AI symptom checker, helping users assess their symptoms' severity and decide on emergency care or a regular visit.
It also integrates with wearables to track wellness metrics like sleep and steps, offering personalised health goals.
Sahatna, developed in partnership between DoH and Abu Dhabi Health Data Service (ADHDS), helps users find nearby healthcare facilities and access in-person or remote consultations.
Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, and Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, were among those in attendance at the app's launch, joined by numerous officials and partner representatives.
Al Ghaithi said: “Abu Dhabi continues to make great strides in cementing its position as a leading healthcare destination globally, transforming patient care and population health management. At the DoH, we are committed to creating a thriving society by empowering our residents to lead happier, healthier, and longer lives. Owing to our wise leadership, and fuelled by our passionate partners, we have built a robust digital healthcare infrastructure. Building on this foundation we are now delivering technology innovations such as Sahatna that seamlessly integrates our entire healthcare ecosystem to enhance access, quality, and personalised wellness for all.”
Moreover, Kareem Shahin, CEO of ADHDS, stated that the partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to launch Sahatna signifies a transformative step towards improving community health by providing seamless access to quality healthcare and personalised wellness solutions.
Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Executive Director of Digital Health at DoH, stated that over 60% of Abu Dhabi's healthcare facilities are now connected to the Sahatna app, offering instant, one-touch access to services.
Speaking to Aletihad on the sidelines, Al Jallaf stressed the goal of building an intelligent healthcare system, stating: “What this means is how do we use technology and analytics to really improve patient care across Abu Dhabi.”
He elaborated on the app's features, stating: “We have a huge wellness feature in it, enabling people to do more exercise, to drive preventative care.”
“A critical part of Sahatna is that it's an ever-growing app... We are connecting with people across Abu Dhabi to understand what upgrades they would like next,” he added.
The Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, located in Hall 19, Stand B20 at GITEX 2024, will showcase these innovations until October 18.
