DUBAI (ALETIHAD)
The Dubai Police, represented by the General Department of Traffic and Naif Police Station and Positive Spirit Council, organised an awareness scootercade to teach e-scooter riders about traffic safety laws and to highlight designated paths and locations for their use. Participants travelled along Bani Yas Street, within the station's jurisdiction.
Brigadier Omar Ashour Mousa, Acting Director of the Naif Police Station, indicated that the scootercade's goal was to educate electric scooter users about traffic rules and procedures, as well as the roads and routes where riding is legal. He emphasised the significance of following all safety and security criteria, rules, and regulations in designated places to ensure user safety.
Brig. Mousa also emphasised the importance of following permitted roads, obeying traffic laws, wearing a proper helmet, using a reflective vest, and equipping the scooter with a bright white reflective light in the front and a bright red reflective light in the rear. He also stressed the need to ensure that scooters had functional brakes.
Furthermore, Brig. Mousa stated that the scootercade aimed to curb negative behaviour and prevent traffic accidents and road casualties. "It also focused on educating all road users—drivers, passengers, and pedestrians—about their rights to ensure the highest levels of safety," he added.
Brig. Mousa indicated that the scootercade aimed to enhance compliance with traffic laws and regulations, making the emirate's roadways safer. He reaffirmed that Dubai Police is committed to ensuring comfort and safety for road users by enhancing traffic enforcement efforts to reduce violations and curb reckless motorists who endanger the safety of others.
