The Abu Dhabi Police has warned drivers against stopping on the shoulder of the road for any reason, urging them to head to the nearest safe parking spot for their safety and the safety of other road users.

The Abu Dhabi Police advised drivers to immediately contact the Command and Control Center at 999 (operations room) for necessary support if they couldn't move their car for any reason to prevent accidents.

Drivers were also cautioned about the dangers of being distracted by using their phones to browse the internet, access social networking sites, make calls, take pictures, or engage in other behaviours that could lead to serious traffic accidents. It was emphasised that the fine for any form of distraction while driving a vehicle is 800 dirhams and incurs four traffic points.
