His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has met with Michelle Riley-Brown, President and CEO of the Children’s National Hospital – Washington, along with the hospital’s senior management team. The meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs.

H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the team from Children’s National Hospital - Washington, commending the hospital's achievements and pioneering initiatives in paediatrics, as well as its treatment programmes that contribute to saving the lives of newborns and children worldwide.

During the meeting, His Highness emphasised the significance of the medical and scientific partnership between Abu Dhabi and Children’s National Hospital - Washington, which has spanned over four decades and culminated in 2009 with the launch of a global philanthropic partnership, achieving remarkable progress in paediatrics and providing medical and therapeutic care to children and newborns worldwide, with the utilisation of advanced technologies and innovative medical solutions.

Michelle Riley-Brown, President and CEO of Children’s National Hospital - Washington, expressed her sincere gratitude to the UAE and its leadership for their continued support of the hospital’s initiatives, highlighting the country’s contributions to improving medical services, saving children's lives, providing specialised treatment plans for critical cases, and developing proactive detection solutions to enhance treatment success and patient outcomes.

The Children’s National Hospital - Washington includes the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Paediatric Surgical Innovation, which was established in 2010 with an Dh550 million fund from the UAE. In 2022, the Children's National Research and Innovation Campus at the hospital was also inaugurated with an additional Dh100 million grant from the UAE.

The UAE also provided $35 million in financial support to the Children’s National Hospital - Washington, to advance its strategic health initiatives, focusing on prenatal, neonatal, and maternal health. This contribution coincided with the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to the United States in September 2024.

 


Also attending the meeting were His Excellency Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and a delegation representing the Children’s National Hospital, including Dr Kurt Newman, President Emeritus of Children’s National Hospital - Washington; DeAnn Marshall, President of Children’s Hospital Foundation; Kathie Williams, Board Chair of Children’s National Foundation; Rami Al Tayer, Regional Director of MENA at Children’s National Hospital - Washington; Soraia Angiuoli, Executive Director of Global Services at Children’s National Hospital; and Amanda Ranalli, Associate Vice President at Children’s National Hospital Foundation.
