TRENDS Research & Advisory hosted a panel discussion on the future of management education amidst the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI).

Held at TRENDS' Conference Hall, the event featured Professor Stewart Clegg from the University of Sydney School of Project Management and Elyazia Al-Hosani, Director of Media Department at TRENDS.

The panel explored the implications of integrating AI into management education programmes, emphasising the importance of balancing the advantages of new technologies with maintaining the essential human role in learning.

Professor Clegg highlighted the capabilities of AI models like GPT-4, explaining their potential to analyse vast amounts of data and generate new research ideas, opening up new horizons for researchers and academics.

He also stressed the ethical questions surrounding AI use in education, particularly the issue of ownership of ideas generated by machines.

Al-Hosani noted that AI could offer a personalised learning experience for students, providing the guidance and support needed to achieve their goals.

She mentioned that AI could simulate real-world work environments, allowing students to practice handling real-life challenges.

Moderated by researcher Meera Al-Zaabi and emceed by researcher Abrar Al-Ali, the panel emphasised that while AI holds enormous potential, the human role in education remains critical.

Humans are still crucial in steering the educational process, developing soft skills, and making ethical decisions.

The panel concluded that AI presents a transformative opportunity for management education, but it must be used wisely and responsibly.

It underscored the importance of collaboration between education and technology experts to develop innovative solutions that meet future educational needs.
