As part of the final stop of its Asian research tour and its participation in the Indonesia International Book Fair, TRENDS Research & Advisory held a series of fruitful dialogues with six prominent think tanks and academic institutions in Jakarta.

The discussions focused on collaborative research efforts, knowledge sharing, establishing strategic partnerships to enhance TRENDS' research capabilities and exploring ways to address global challenges. 

The dialogues included the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS), the Indonesian National Counter Terrorism Agency (BNPT), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Center for Regional Information and Studies (PATTIRO), PRAKARSA institute, and the School of Strategic and Global Studies, University of Indonesia. 

Held separately at the institutions' headquarters, the meetings explored opportunities for joint research projects covering a wide range of topics, including artificial intelligence (AI), sustainable development, economic and political issues, and strategic foresight.

The dialogues also focused on leveraging the vast expertise of Indonesian research institutions, fostering strong research networks, and expanding TRENDS' regional and international influence as a leading research center.

This effort reflects TRENDS' commitment to supporting scientific research and promoting knowledge exchange.

CEO of TRENDS, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, emphasised the importance of these dialogues in strengthening research cooperation with Indonesian research institutions, noting that such strategic partnerships are crucial to achieving TRENDS' goals and enhancing its position as a leading think tank globally.

He added that these research dialogues with academic and research institutions represent an opportunity to exchange expertise and ideas, enhance research capabilities, and support sustainable development efforts.

He emphasised that scientific research forms the foundation for shaping the future, and collaboration and partnerships are the optimal path toward achieving this goal. 

Officials of Indonesian research institutions expressed their appreciation for the cooperation, highlighting the importance of exchanging expertise between researchers from different cultures.

They emphasised the role of research in understanding global challenges and developing scientific insights to address them.

The heads of the six research and academic institutions welcomed collaboration with TRENDS, praising its active role and global presence.

They also commended TRENDS' participation as a primary sponsor of the Indonesia International Book Fair 2024, where it was the only Arab think tank present.

TRENDS and the six research institutions agreed to maintain communication and sign partnership agreements in the near future.

Meanwhile, TRENDS Research & Advisory continued its participation at the Indonesia International Book Fair 2024, attracting a wide audience to its pavilion, which featured dozens of publications. 

The pavilion was visited by Indonesia’s Minister of Culture and Tourism and his deputy, as well as several ambassadors, officials, intellectuals, and authors.

All praised TRENDS' presence and its collection of over 300 publications across various fields.

Other notable visitors included Hilmar Farid, Director General of Culture at Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology; Professor Ahmad Najib Burhani, Chairman of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Dr. Imam Addaruqutni, Chairperson of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation at the Muhammadiyah Association, Indonesia; and Manuel Rabaté, Director of Louvre Abu Dhabi; along with numerous university students and research center officials.

The TRENDS team visited several other pavilions at the Indonesia International Book Fair, presenting them with a selection of its publications.
