The Federal National Council (FNC) Parliamentary Division participated in a conference titled "Parliaments and multilateralism: Opportunities from the Pact for the Future."

The event was hosted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on the sidelines of the ongoing 79th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 79) in New York.

Chairman of the Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the FNC, and head of the UAE delegation, Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, emphasised in his speech during the conference the importance of strengthening the partnership between parliamentarians, the United Nations, and non-governmental organisations in promoting global peace.

He called for giving peace a priority on the agenda of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations, urging parliamentarians to work towards creating a better future through collaborative and inclusive efforts to enhance stability and sustainable peace.

The event focused on the role of parliaments at the UN and in multilateralism, assessing progress so far and evaluating opportunities for deeper parliamentary engagement with the UN going forward.
