DUBAI (ALETIHAD)

The Dubai Police, through its "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative, continues to organise awareness activities for private school students, focusing on the responsibilities of sports spectators and promoting positive sportsmanship.

The initiative, organised in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, visited the Indian High School, where students were given a detailed explanation of sports fans' responsibilities as outlined in Federal Law No. 8 of 2014 concerning the security of sports facilities and events.

During the awareness session, attended by the school's administrative and teaching staff, as well as students, Lieutenant Nabet Sultan Al Ketbi emphasised that the "Your Commitment is Happiness" initiative aims to strengthen communication between sports clubs and their fans, uniting efforts to create a positive fan experience by promoting a culture of constructive cheering.

The initiative also encourages social media users to spread positive messages and constructive criticism among all stakeholders, reflecting the country's civilised image in sports arenas.

He further explained that the initiative works to raise spectators' awareness about the limits of cheering and the dangers of expressing negative emotions toward others. Fans are urged to understand their responsibilities according to federal law on the security of sports facilities and events. The initiative has garnered significant support from sports institutions, media outlets, and the community, leading to a notable reduction in negative behaviour at stadiums.

Al Ketbi highlighted that the provisions of the federal law on the security of sports facilities and events ensure the safety of athletes and various venues across the country.

"The law follows advanced security standards and protocols that align with international regulations for organising security aspects at sports festivals and events at the highest levels," he highlighted.
