Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), discussed with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti Dileita Mohamed Dileita, ways to develop and activate parliamentary diplomacy between the two sides through the exchange of visits and the enhancement of coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual interest. This would strengthen the cooperation and coordination between the UAE and Djibouti in all fields.

This discussion took place during a meeting between Saqr Ghobash and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Djibouti and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday at the FNC's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. 

The meeting was attended by Maryam Majid bin Theneya, Second Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), and several FNC members.

The FNC Speaker welcomed his Djiboutian counterpart and his accompanying delegation, emphasising the deep bilateral relations between the UAE and the Republic of Djibouti. “These relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, coordination, and joint action on various national, regional, and international issues," Ghobash said. 

He also highlighted the keenness of the wise leadership to enhance and develop these relations in a way that serves the developmental goals of both countries and brings prosperity to their fraternal peoples, especially in light of the promising opportunities to expand cooperation in various fields.

He further drew attention to the FNC's commitment to strengthening communication and cooperation with various parliaments, and global parliamentary organisations, given the significant role parliaments play in representing their peoples. 

He pointed out that the UAE is working to build bridges of friendship and cooperation with all countries worldwide and to promote the spirit of cooperation, dialogue, and understanding.

The discussion highlighted the significance of strengthening parliamentary collaboration between the FNC and the National Assembly of Djibouti. Both parties aimed to unify their positions and approaches on shared issues in regional and international forums while also exchanging parliamentary experiences and knowledge.

For his part, Dileita Mohamed Dileita emphasised the importance of the relationship between the two friendly countries and their peoples, highlighting the need to strengthen cooperation across various fields, particularly in parliamentary matters, due to the crucial role parliaments play in fostering cultural dialogue.
