ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)
The UAE has been experiencing unusual August weather with somewhat reduced temperatures caused by dusty winds.
The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has been warning UAE residents of dusty weather and reduced horizontal visibility for some days now. The Center also said scattered rains are being witnessed in the eastern parts of the country. Even in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah, overcast skies at times indicate the possibility of sporadic rain.
The NCM asked motorists to drive cautiously as reduced horizontal visibility could be problematic. It asked the residents to lock all doors and windows to prevent the dust from entering the buildings. It also asked them not to expose themselves to the dust as far as possible to prevent health problems.
The NCM said rough sea conditions are likely in the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman and asked the beach-goers to stay safe and avoid high tides. The lowest temperature of 18.7 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jais Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah at 1.45 am on Monday, the NCM said.
Abu Dhabi Police have also been active on social media, warning motorists of reduced horizontal visibility due to windy and dusty weather conditions and advising them to follow all safety rules. It asked the motorists not to “be distracted by taking videos or using phone while driving”.
