ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)

In line with its efforts to preserve and protect biological diversity, the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) succeeded in propagating one of the rarest native plant species in the emirate, the Dwarf Palm (Ghadhaf).

In a post on X, the agency noted that it was able to do so by collecting more than 100 seedlings from EAD nurseries and planting them in their natural habitats.

The post mentioned that approximately 20 seedlings were planted in Jebel Hafeet National Park, as well as in the Plant Genetic Resources Centre.

Notably, among the propagation outcomes was preserving Ghaghaf DNA via genetic sequencing for future economic and environmental use.
