The UAE's uber-rich are flying in style this summer, and their favourite getaways are London, Geneva, and Nice.

Private charter operators are noticing a noticeable increase in private flights from the UAE this year among the ultra-wealthy.

"This trend reflects the growing demand for exclusive, flexible, and secure travel options within this affluent demographic," said Alain Champonnois, President and CEO of Chapman Freeborn, a leading air charter company, to Aletihad English.

Champonnois said the UAE's strategic location, combined with its status as a global business and luxury travel hub, continues to drive the popularity of private jet travel.

"Whether for business or leisure, the ultra-wealthy are increasingly opting for the convenience and bespoke services that private aviation offers," he said London, Geneva, and Nice are popular due to several factors, including the fact that many ultra-wealthy Middle Eastern individuals have residences in these locations.

For flights from the UAE to popular destinations such as London, Geneva, and Nice, operators like Chapman Freeborn operate Ultra Long Range Private Jets.

These planes are capable of operating on these routes nonstop.

"Our clientele tend to favour aircraft such as the Gulfstream G650, Bombardier Global 7500, and Dassault Falcon 8X, which offer exceptional range, speed, and comfort," said the company CEO.

While there are no exact figures on the numbers of summer flights, hundreds of flights have departed Dubai and Abu Dhabi to global destinations during the period.

This rise in number underscores the continued preference for private aviation among the ultra-wealthy, especially during peak travel seasons to escape the summer heat.

Time is money for these individuals.

There's also luxury and privacy on these flights for the superrich.

The true benefit lies in saving time – the most valuable commodity for elite clientele, according to private aviation companies.

These private jets offer significant time savings by avoiding long lines, layovers, and delays.

The flexibility of customisable schedules and direct flights to multiple destinations further enhances efficiency.

Additionally, the privacy and security of private aviation ensure a discreet travel experience, while luxurious amenities and personalised services provide unmatched comfort.

Champonnois said Abu Dhabi has long been a key hub for private and charter flights, and recent growth trends align with the broader regional expansion.

The city's enduring status as a major business centre and luxury destination consistently enhances its appeal to high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients.

This established reputation, combined with ongoing economic development, solidifies Abu Dhabi's prominence in the private aviation sector.

For corporate clients, the demand for private flights remains consistent with last year's levels.

While there is a noticeable surge in interest during peak summer periods, reflecting the increased business travel and events during that time, overall demand remains steady throughout the year, Champonnois said.

Among inbound destinations, Saudi Arabia is the top country for private charter flights to the UAE.

This can be attributed to the strong economic ties, business activities, and cultural connections between the UAE and Saudi Arabia which drive significant travel between these two nations.

Advance Booking
Those keen to fly private should book at least one month in advance.

While flights can be arranged up to four hours before departure, booking earlier significantly expands the range of available options.

This is especially important during peak periods, such as the summer months, when demand surges at popular European destinations like Ibiza, Mykonos, Nice, and Naples.

Costs of private jet flights are influenced by factors such as the route, travel date, number of passengers, and aircraft type.
