A delegation of ambassadors from foreign and Arab countries accredited to the UAE visited the 20th Liwa Date Festival, held in Al Dhafra Region under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court.

The delegation included Edward Andrew Beauchamp Hobart, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the UAE; Martina Strong, Ambassador of the United States to the UAE; Radha Krishna Panday, Ambassador of Canada to the UAE; Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the UAE; Fouad Chehab Nabih Dandan, Ambassador of Lebanon to the UAE, as well as a number of diplomats.

The ambassadors visited various pavilions of government and private agencies participating in the festival, along with shops selling fresh fruits and those in the festival’s popular market.

They explored the festival's shops and exhibits, which included heritage and agricultural products, food and palm-related industries, and the latest technologies in agriculture, particularly palm cultivation.

During their visit to the festival, organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the ambassadors were briefed on farmers’ participation in date and fruit competitions.

They met members of the judging committee and learned about the sorting mechanisms and conditions for participating in the competitions.

These competitions included date and fruit auctions, the most beautiful date bunch, the most beautiful heritage model, and the model farm.
