Razan Al Mubarak champions ocean conservation at MENA Oceans Summit, building on COP28 successes

UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP28 and President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, spoke at the MENA Oceans Summit in Dubai, an initiative by Goumbook about advancing ocean conservation as a critical component of the climate agenda post-COP28.

"Following our progress at COP28, we have integrated ocean conservation more deeply into our climate strategies. Initiatives like the Ocean Breakthroughs are essential for maintaining the resilience of our oceans against climate change," she said.

Her address emphasised the inclusion of ocean-based solutions in over 70 percent of Nationally Determined Contributions, highlighting their significance for the sustainability and economy of the MENA region.
